Topic: Sport
This activity can be used as an introduction to the topic about Olympic games.
1. Explain to your students that they will read the picture. Remind them of the words that the more they say the more they learn and analyze. Ask them to express their opinions. 2. Open the first part of the picture and offer the students to answer the questions. - What does an acronim NBC mean? (National Broardcasting Company) - What country does it represent? (The USA) If students do not offer the right answer, help them or ask to browse the information in the Internet using their mobile devices. 3. Open the second part of the image and ask students to brainstorm the ideas about what the picture looks like (a peacock) and what it is (a logo of NBC). After the students expressed their thoughts, put such a question: - In what extand may colours of the logo of NBC tell about its shpere of activity? 4. The third part of the image depicts Olympic rings. Encourage students to name the colours of these rings and ask them think what the colours mean (different continents: Blue - Europe, Black - Africa, Red - America, Yellow - Asia, Green - Australia). 5. Tell your students that you are going to be the reporters of NBC and they will collect some information for the news.
