Threats caused by media

When we usually want to introduce new vocabulary, we try to find pictures to demonstrate them. Sometimes the only one image may save the situation and you may lead your students to booting their speaking as well. "Reading" images provides the opportunity to evoke students' imagination, creativity and critical thinking by means of a foreign language.

The syllabus of the course "Practicum of oral and written speech" contains the topic "Threats caused by media at early age". So I had to introduce the word THREAT.

I found the picture in the internet and encouraged my students to complete such tasks. If you look though the presentation, it will be more clear to realize the procedure.

Step 1.

Encourage students to answer the question using relative clauses with (who/which/that).

What / Who do you see? What is happening?

Step 2.

Introduce the vocabulary you would like your students to use and do Step 1 again.

Step 3.

Let your students go on expressing their ideas about the picture and ask them the question

How does he feel? What makes you think so?

Step 3.

When your students start thinking of the title for picture, they may come to an idea of the word THREAT. Otherwise you may offer your own title. Such a way you may introduce the only one word. In other words students come to it themselves.
